Looking a-head! HATstock TV interview

Emma Fozard

I was privileged to be asked to take part in an interview with That's Manchester TV as part of the promotional campaign for HATstock, the millinery event I mentioned previously, which is taking place at the Hat museum here in Stockport.

Whilst my studio is currently awash with sinamay, veneer and prototypes for work that I'll be showing at HATstock, I set my mind to the PR side of things to maximise the exposure that this event is bringing not only to me but the heritage of hatting in Stockport and the wider circle of contemporary milliners across the North.

Talking in public is surprisingly not my strongest skill so it was a challenge and I've learnt a lot in the process but here's the outcome and remember only 9 days til HATstock!

HATstock goes live!

Emma Fozard

Last week I mentioned news of Stockport's inaugural HATstock so here is the programme for it on Saturday 25th march 2017.

Its a free event with talks, a millinery marketplace, a milliners showcase, taster tours and raising awareness of brain tumour research. I cant wait!

February; looking forward.

Emma Fozard

February is upon us and I'm enjoying getting stuck back into studio life after the Christmas break.

We've had some new tenants here at Marketplace and over the next few posts I'll do my best to show you around the place as I really value being surrounded by other creative people and being able to chat through ideas.

I have a couple of things to look forward to over the next few weeks. First up, a visitor to my studio next week; Beatrix Baker who is an artist/maker who uses steam bent wood.

I first met Beatrix at Great Northern Contemporary Craft Fair and then at a Crafts Council Marketing session where she was a speaker. We'll being doing a skill swap session; hat blocking for steam bending, with a view to widening our creative practices in an informal setting. I'll show you what we get upto next time.

Meanwhile I am excited to have been invited to showcase my work at a brand new millinery event; HATstock will take place on Saturday 25th March at Hat Works, the museum of hatting in Stockport.
